Clay Morgan and the Art of Field Research

moving the podcast – interview from August 20, 2013

~~~
I asked Clay to come talk to us about his writing process. Clay talks about the unique challenges of writing book number 2, fully experiencing the adventure of field research (while still taking notes), and how he turns it all into a book worth reading.
Scroll down a little further to see a couple of short videos from our talk last year!
Vicki Manuel: on making healthier food choices
moving the podcast – chat from August 13, 2013
Health Coach Vicki Manuel is back! Today we talk about making the switch to healthier eating habits. Vicki covers the importance of reading labels and moving away from man-made ingredients, and explains how some “diet” foods may actually be working against you. She also tells us where you can start if you’re ready to make changes in your own food choices.
Coming Full Circle with Larry Carter
moving the podcast – interview from August 6, 2013
One of my favorite interviews!
~~~

I’ve often seen Larry in the same cyber places I was visiting, and I was regularly struck by what a nice guy he seemed to be and the good things he had to say. In our interview, Larry talked to me about his blogging missteps, searching for the right church and letting God shape his dreams. We also talked about how we sometimes head out on a search for self or faith or purpose, only to come around full circle, right back to the place we started from. And how, at forty-five, Larry is just now learning who he is.

"What I've realized is that I've got a story, and that's what I'm trying to tell. In bits and pieces, I'm trying to tell a little bit of my story." ~ Larry
“What I’ve realized is that I’ve got a story, and that’s what I’m trying to tell.
In bits and pieces, I’m trying to tell a little bit of my story.”

0:00 ~ meeting in the comment section
6:00 ~ honesty (and vulnerability) in blogging
10:55 ~ the history of Deuceology
16:25 ~ “I’m just now learning who I am.”
20:10 ~ wandering around in a circle
28:20 ~ we’re all in full-time ministry
37:55 ~ Resignation (writing fiction)
41:20 ~ Dunn Holler!

Recovering People Pleaser, Rob Shepherd

moving the podcast – interview from July 31, 2013

~~~
Rob Shepherd is one of those names I’ve seen around almost since the moment I started blogging. I’d read many of his posts over those years, but didn’t know very much about him. Then guest Ricky Anderson suggested I talk to Rob, saying what a great guy he was and how he wasn’t afraid of anything.
I found out Rob actually is afraid of some things, after all. We talk about that, the balancing act between husband, father and pastor, and his first book, about fighting his people-pleasing addiction.
"So, when you start to understand how God has created you and really start plugging into the areas that you are gifted, it really starts to give you some confidence to do some of those things that used to be scary to you." ~ Rob
“So when you start to understand how God created you and really start plugging in
to do some of those things that used to be scary to you.”
