3rd Annual Zombie Walk

This past Saturday was the Zombie Walk! I went for the first time last year with my friend Toni and we had a great time. This year Toni’s husband and son joined us too. It seemed even more crowded with zombies than last year, and I’m hoping it brought in a lot of food donations for our area food banks.

The Mean Mommy Club of Fredericksburg originated the Zombie Walk here, and I chatted with a couple of the Mean Mommies beforehand about how they got started and why they decided to do this kind of charity event in the first place. Here’s the interview, if you’d like to take a listen (it’s about 16 minutes):

Here are some pictures:

It was a lot of fun, and I even got to be a costume contest judge this year, so that was cool too. And I only ran away from one person this year, so that’s a step up. But in my defense, she was really, really creepy.

    • Some of them WERE really scary! There was one guy I didn’t get a picture of because I wouldn’t even go near him.

      • The one with the bloody doll is really creepy. Haha I’m such a big scaredy cat – I don’t know if I will be able to do the walk. Good for you that you’ve already done it twice! 🙂

        • Yeah and that little girl had a story for how her doll got that way, like a zombie doll back story. It was really cute. I would never have gone if my friend didn’t go too last year. This year was better because I knew what to expect though.

  2. Katniss Zombie! Man, this Annual Zombie Walk sounds like a lot of fun. So many people had such creepy makeup!
I found the guy with the fake burn marks to be the most creepy 😐

    • I know! I almost missed taking her picture, too.

It was a lot of fun. I don’t dress up, but I tell people I’m still a survivor, haha. And I stay far enough away from the really creepy ones. I agree about the fake burns – there were a lot of people there with some form of that fake burn makeup. I had talked earlier to the mom and daughter who were taking the selfie and the girl had a whole big backstory about how they had gotten caught in a burning building and got burned and then got turned as they were escaping the building. It was really neat, but their faces really creeped me out too.

      • Haha, pretty cool!
Dressing up and putting on such elaborate make-up must take a lot of time! I see a lot of sophisticated make-up on some people. It’s kind of cool that they take this event so seriously. 😀

        • Yes they do!! I think some of them must spend hours on it. And another thing that is really cool is how lots of people and small groups do theme costumes. So it’s not all just “regular” zombies.

          • Yeah! Dressing up as zombie Katniss, and Teletubbies and what not. Might take some inspiration from this for next Halloween 😉
