I just watched Forest Gump again and this was precisely the brilliance behind this movie. He took everything he learned and excelled at it. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to do that????
Oh I haven’t seen that in years! Yes, absolutely. I liked this quote a lot because hindsight shows me that there was so much I should have learned a lot easier if I’d listened to other people’s wisdom. But the truth is that I really only fully get it when I experience for myself, so it’s not just “if I only would have”, but “if I only could have”. I often wish life was easier that way, but honesty, I don’t always learn from my own mistakes, much less other people’s. Forest Gump was just innocent enough to be open to take in things I thought I was too smart to need.
That was the power of Gump.
Most kind of you to make mention of this. I am humbled.
My pleasure David! It’s wonderful to me that you could convey so much with just a few short lines!
I believe I got lucky that time, young Miss.
