Something About You

This is my favorite song ever.

I have lots of second favorites, songs I get excited about when I hear them on the radio. You know, the “Oh! I LOVE this song!” songs.

But none have ever come close to knocking my favorite out of place.

I don’t even know why it’s my favorite song; I can’t explain it.

It’s like the difference between having a crush and being in love.

It just makes my heart beat in a different way.

.

What’s your favorite song?

Can you explain why it’s your favorite?

  1. I don’t have a favorite song because I never remember songs. I do enjoy listening to music but it just doesn’t stick..I have no musical talent in me none at all. I can sing row row your boat and people would ask me what song it is. Sorta take after my ma in this must be genetic.

    • That’s pretty interesting! I remember bits and pieces of songs I knew by heart when I was younger. Back in the old days when I bought tapes and albums, they often had the lyrics printed on the sleeve inserts. I would lay on the couch listening to songs over and over while reading the lyrics, trying to get a song memorized. Now I buy mp3 files. Not quite the same charm factor.

  2. Does this song take you back to a happy time? Most of my favorite songs do but not always. I love With or Without you by U2 and I have no special memory connected to it, I just find it deeply stirring. Like deep down Bono and I are connecting on a spiritual level :-p Creepy, I know.

    • Not really. I don’t know why I love it so much, it doesn’t make me think of anything really, not even any particular emotions. And the Bono thing isn’t creepy! 🙂 My favorite U2 song is I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. Definitely The Joshua Tree is my favorite U2 album!! So awesome.

  3. Boots,
Free bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd…….both an anti establishment and end of our love kinds song.
I got fired for playing it instead of Xmas music one holiday shopping stretch. Lots of local play at parties after that!

    • Lol I was going to say Free Bird but that song has become a joke to many- you know the lighter in the air, “play Free Bird!” Kind of thing so I chickened out. But, now you have said it I’ll jump in and say that song is the best! When I hear that guitar solo I crank it up and my heart just about comes out of my chest. One time it came on in the car and I got so into it I scared my kids and they cried. 😦 love your Christmas story

      • Every parent should have at least one great scared the kids moment, haha.

    • You mean that’s not a christmas song?

Whenever we heard that come on the radio when I was 16, my best friend would say how she wanted that played at her funeral. It always brings back memories for me of that great time in my life. Good choice!

My favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd is Sweet Home Alabama. Pretty standard choice, but it’s mine. 🙂

      • Simple Man is another hickster classic. Highly unsophisticated……..and that’s the fucking point.

        • Oh, I love that one! I just had to pull it up on YouTube so I could listen to it.

I really like southern rock – I guess that’s what it is, maybe it’s just classic rock. All that music when there was actually great MUSIC! You know, when the composition was as important as the lyrics or the singer. Skynyrd, CCR, the Eagles…such good music in their music.

I couldn’t pick just one band, let alone one song.

    • I couldn’t pick just one band, either. I don’t know what it is about this song. It’s weird.
