And I’m learning to let go of my expectations. I can’t make anyone be what I want them to be, shape them into someone, or something, else. I can only take what is, and work with that.

the Infinite Monkey speaks: on creating stories

We’re creating stories with every meal we eat together, with every crazy family dance time, with every time we patiently wait for an unsuspecting family member to exit the washroom so we can yell “Boo!”

Remember that time?

the Infinite Monkey speaks: on how it’s supposed to be

After a few moments, Oldest abandoned the swings and Little started to follow. I sat down and slowly began swinging on my own. And I thought, this is how it’s going to be. My boys are becoming their own persons.

Then my Oldest, my original baby boy, turned back and came to push me. And Little hopped onto my lap. And I could smell the sand and heat from his neck and see Oldest’s shadow as he gave us one last push before climbing a new challenge. I watched him scale the fire pole with Little cuddling with me and I realized: This is how it is supposed to be.

Bookends and Swings

My first month of podcasting!

Well,  a little more than a month. It’s been fun, and mostly a really good excuse for me to ask people lots of questions!

Here’s who I’ve talked to so far:

.

Leanne Shirtliffe ~ about her new book, Don’t Lick the Minivan

Ricky Anderson ~ about fatherhood, being the IT guy, his work-in-progress and how we both used to work at a toy store

JR. Forasteros ~ about Star Trek Into Darkness!

Vicki Manuel ~ about our food issues, like emotional eating, distructive habits and negative thinking

Knox McCoy ~ about free-lance writing, self-publishing, podcasting and video production

.

I hope you’ll take a listen to one or two episodes! I’ve got some interesting stuff coming up – at least I think so, haha.

And if you ever want to talk, just shoot me an email and let me know what’s on your mind!
