Week In Review: I Resolve

In the past week, I’ve thought a lot about New Year’s resolutions.  Like thesinglecell, I don’t typically spend end-of-the-year-time reviewing aspects of my life, successes and failures and all that stuff; I pretty much lament about where my life is going (or rather, its lack of direction) all throughout the year.  And I certainly don’t make New Year’s resolutions because: (a) I forget about them almost immediately, or (b) I break them even sooner than that. continue reading…

Movie Quote Christmas Eve – Scrooged

This has never been one of my favorites, but I have it on dvd, so it must be included in the Christmas rotation.  Because I’m like that, you know.  Anyway, I was sort of watching this year, and sort of doing something else, when I heard Bill Murray (as the Scroogiest of Scrooges) say something interesting.  I guess he says it every time, but I’ve never had a blog to quote movies on before now, so this time it caught my attention. continue reading…

Movie Quote Friday – A Christmas Carol

As far as I’m concerned, there is only one A Christmas Carol, and Reginald Owen is the only Scrooge.  But that’s really beside the point.

Anyway, Christmas is a special time of the year.  I love the Christmas season because it’s a happy time, a time to celebrate with friends and family, at church and at home.  I’ll admit that I love to get presents, but I especially love to give them.  And, though the holidays don’t bring out the best in us all, I do believe that this is a time of year when most of us try a little harder to be kind and giving. continue reading…
