Random Thoughts – That’s not weird, right?
There’s this little building near some railroad tracks I cross every day. This place is clearly a residence, but it’s just a plain, white, cinder-block building. Not very house looking at all.
I think it used to be a business. This little spot was apparently a train stop at one time, and there are two abandoned buildings next to the house, and a boarded up depot station across the street.
I want so badly to knock on the door and ask, “Can I look inside your house?”
Is that really so strange?

It really is! And it’s one of those places – train tracks, abandoned buildings, open spaces, etc. – that are somehow appealing to photograph whether it’s dark and dreary and wet, or beautiful blue sky weather.

I’ve wanted to do that many times with my old houses.
There was a house that I thought was perfect for the book I’m writing. A woman stepped outside and I said hello and told her my thoughts. She asked me if I wanted to see it! SCORE!
That’s pretty cool!! When I was in college, I used to drive around in the mountains and look at all the interesting old houses planted on the hillsides. I did stop once and talked to a couple who were working outside. Turns out it was a bed and breakfast. I didn’t tour it though, but now I wish I’d asked!
I don’t think it is strange at all. It would be more strange not to wonder about it.
I think so too! I am a curious cat by nature anyway. I want to know about everything, haha – even things I don’t really care much about.
Sometimes i get hung up on stuff that has absolutely no place in my world.
My wife thinks like you. She wants to go to every open house in the neighborhood. I would feel like a burglar who was just looking.
Haha, really? That’s funny, and I can’t put myself in your shoes as hard as I try. I love all those house shows, whether it’s about remodeling or house hunting or whatever. Honestly, I just want them to cut to the chase and show me inside all the houses! I want to see the furnishings, the layout, are the bathrooms nice… Maybe it’s a girl thing?
I love mysterious places like that, and I would want to take a peek inside as well.
Another valication for me and my curiosity!!
