The Undead Interview, Part One (with Clay Morgan)

So, on Monday I shared a little pop culture quiz that I did with Clay Morgan. Today I have something bigger to pass along. Literally and figuratively.
Clay was gracious enough to answer a lot of questions, talking to me about himself and his book Undead as I stumbled my way through my first interview ever. (My plan was to ask more questions than I needed and then edit down, but I can’t bring myself to cut anything.) Thank you so much, Mr. Clay Morgan, for indulging me, for being patient, and for being such an interesting person to interview!
Here is part one of the interview; I hope the rest of you enjoy it as much as I did.

I thought about posting the second half tomorrow, but I don’t like to wait – so I won’t.

Tune in next week for part two, where we dig into Clay’s awesome new book, Undead!
Just as an aside…
As I’ve been editing these pieces, a lot of things kept running through my mind:
- I totally feel like Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove, “Is that my voice? Is that MY voice?”
- Is Clay a mind-reader? He keeps answering my next question before I ask my next question.
- I really want to put up the Clay and Michelle icons so they can have some fake conversations, basically to let out the running commentary in my head about how awkward I am.
- Yeah, so I use about 10 words where 3 would do just fine.
What’s running through my mind right now is, “Only one of those things is about Clay and the actual interview; you’re, like, completely self-centered.” The worst part is that the little Michelle icon is saying it. *sigh* I’m thinking there’s something really not right about that.
Anyway…

Great interview. I’ve often recognized Clay’s great ability to instantly connect with people, whether it be in writing, class, event,or in person. God has gifted him. The day he stops speaking and writing is a day I don’t want to see.
Hey pretty lady! I saw you’ve got a picture now 🙂
That’s a great thing, isn’t it? I love how you put it, “God has gifted him.” And to put that gift to use in a way that gives to others is a wonderful thing. He has said a couple of times that “God made me this way.” I don’t know yet how to describe how God made me – I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up. I’m always fascinated by people who are sure of their calling.
I laughed, I cried.. it moved me 🙂 Great interview Michelle (and Clay). Really appreciated Clay’s transparency and Michelle’s thought provoking questions. Looking forward to the next segment!
Teehee… Thank you… Actually, I have that effect on plenty of other people, too – the crying thing, I mean 🙂 I’m going to be a week late on part two, but I’ll be posting a little synopsis Clay did for each of the miracles next!
Please tell me that he does a reenactment 🙂
Actually, he did make me wait while he changed into costume. Which was odd, because we were on the phone.
This is very enjoyable. 🙂
What I didn’t say is it was a cheer-leading costume.
Shut the front door! I just laughed so hard I choked on my own saliva! You do know that’s an actual true event. Right? *He hates me now.* ….Clayrella….
Yes, ma’am, I’d seen you two mention something about that before on his blog. I threw that one in specially for you – I thought you’d get a kick out of it!
Is there a cape??
I don’t think so, but there may have been a wig involved.
You shouldn’t have said that. Now all I can think about is Clay dressing up as Dolly Parton
Oh my! …and there it goes…it’s in my head now too. On the plus side, I think he’s tall and broad enough to handle the extra weight of those boobs.
Wait, how did we get from a new video to boobs?
This was an excellent interview. I had no intention of listening to both full interviews – but I did. Great job!
Thanks – and thanks for watching them both, haha. Clay was such a good sport. I need to get those put back together though and just make it one video.
