What does that mean?
Sorry, I never answered your comment – I did all the rest on my phone, and I missed yours! It just means that he worried about a lot of things that never came to pass. Many of us have wasted a lot of time thinking about, worrying about, and/or getting upset about what MIGHT happen. And very often, whatever it is that we expect to happen never does. My big one is imaginary fights I have with people. Sad but true. I think they are going to react in a certain way, so I get all riled up. The argument almost never happens in real life, so I’ve wasted a lot of time and energy and emotion on made-up troubles.
Lol, that’s true. I like to believe that I haven’t spent much of my time worrying about things that never came to pass, but I’ve definitely done that sometime or the other 🙂
Ha ha! I totally understand what that means!
This month has some of my favorite quotes! I have tried to keep this one in mind, because it totally describes me. Less as I get older, but I’ve spent a lot of my life worrying about things that never came to pass.
Me too. I keep telling my daughter, who is a worrier, not to do this but I think it is a lesson you have to learn for yourself.
I’m still prone to fret over things so I can’t get to sleep. I have to keep telling myself to STOP! I don’t always listen, unfortunately. Since I’ve gotten older, mine is mostly when I’m upset or angry, rather than worried. Sometimes it works if I distract myself or force myself to think of something else. Sometimes.
The story of my life!
I can’t tell you how many arguments and angry conversations I’ve had in my mind, how many things have kept me awake at night, just anticipating a lot of trouble. Mostly, things never turn out the way I fear they will, so it’s such a waste of my time and emotion!
