Snow Day!

Okay, it’s not technically a snow day because it actually snowed on Tuesday.

And I don’t even get  snow days because I have to go to work no matter what the weather is doing.

No. Matter. What.

But today I was off (or yesterday at this point), so I was able to enjoy the snow as God intended – from home. 🙂

Anyway, the snow is slowly, slowly melting, but it’s so cold at night that the roads are icy in the mornings and evenings. So the less people on them the better.

But Louis and I did get outside for a bit today, and took a little walk up to the field.

Louis!!

I had to drive in across the field when I got home Wednesday night. My driveway is so steep that I can’t get up it when it snows.

.A very little walk.

Louis learns that snow on logs is slippery.

Louis learns that snow on logs is slippery.

I keep forgetting I want to buy snow boots when the stores are selling snow boots, and my tennis shoes were not made for walking around in what’s basically just thick water.

So once my shoes were getting soaked through, I figured it was time to go in. That took all of about 15 minutes.

As soon as I said, “Okay, baby!” and turned around, Louis ran for the house!

That speck is Louis.

I guess I can’t blame him; he wasn’t wearing any shoes at all.

Random Thoughts: proper shower attire

So I got in the shower and got my glasses wet.

Because I wore my glasses into the shower.

.

At least it wasn’t socks.

~~~
Have you ever worn something into the shower?
Or maybe worn your slippers to work?
A Year in the 80’s – like, totally me
IN WHICH I SQUEEZE 10 YEARS INTO 52 DAYS
~ ~  ~  ~  ~  ~ ~ ~  ~  ~  ~  ~ ~ ~  ~  ~  ~  ~
When I say I grew up in the 80’s, I really mean it.
I turned 10 a few months before the ball dropped on the end of ’79, and I had just passed 20 when 1989 closed out in the same fashion. Only, then I was old enough to stay up and watch it happen.
Memories from my first decade of life are patchy at best: snapshots and bits of mental film that I string together as best I can. Honestly, I don’t have really strong memories until I was 12 or 13.
So when I think about “growing up”, I think of the 80’s, the decade when I was starting to be who I am.
Ok, well maybe that was happening already, and I just didn’t know it yet. But that period between 10 and 20 was pretty amazing, a mixture of understanding and confusion, a constant battle between feeling grown up already and realizing I had a hell of a long way to go.
Ah, youth! I treasure those days.
But I wouldn’t have them to do over for anything!! 😉
What I am  happy to do is take this year of Wednesdays to look back at the 80’s. The fabulous, may they never be forgotten (so we can’t make those fashion mistakes twice) 1980’s!
So pull on your Air Jordan’s and hold on to your shoulder pads, cause we’re going back in time! (Get it? Like Back to the Future? It’s an 80’s reference, ya’ll! I am so good at this.)
Here’s me in the 80’s:
Do you have a favorite decade?
What do you remember most about the 1980’s?
Week In Review – StoryMen Surprises
Saturday
I woke up from zombie dreams in the middle of the night. Again.
Super vivid, but not gross, dreams (again).
Lots  of action in this one, you guys.
What is up with the zombie dreams all the time?
How many zombie dreams do I have in the course of a week
that I just don’t remember?
I don’t like all those zombies being in there like that,
and me not knowing it unless I wake up. It’s creepy.
Sunday
Today I got a call from my beloved StoryMen,
who were getting opinions for a new project.
It was a surprise and a delight, but also kinda weird,
like getting a call from Sandra Bullock or someone like that.
You know she’s nice and really just a regular person and all…
but she’s Sandra Bullock!
The StoryMen called me, y’all!
For my opinion!
Actually, I thought they had better sense than that.
Monday
Why do you hate me, GPS?
Why?
Tuesday
Today I told someone,
“I keep feeling like my armpits stink right now,
but I smelled them and they don’t.”
TMI?
Wednesday
I totally went to The Golden Corral with my mom today
and ate whatever I wanted,
instead of going to the gym like I’d planned.
And I have no regrets whatsoever.
Thursday
So today I went to see the movie Gravity.
It was stunning.
A work of visual, audial and emotional art.
Very moving and spiritual.
Friday
I saw Gravity again today, but on a bigger screen.
No less amazing the second time.
AND, I listened to the latest StoryMen podcast,
and I got another Storymen surprise when JR
gave my podcast a mention. Sweet!!
If you don’t know who they are yet, that would
also be surprising because I talk about them enough!
Happy Anniversary, StoryMen! (give them a listen!)
