the Infinite Monkey speaks: one step

Random brilliance from across the blogosphere…

.

It’s weird to think that one random spring day of t-ball tryouts in Florida shaped my whole life.  One step.  One decision was all it took.

  1. That’s pretty profound, actually.

    • I thought so. You never know what seemingly little thing will make a huge difference for your future life.

  2. Wow.

You know, I think it’s not just *one* little thing, but a series of little things taken together. Let me give you a hypothetical situation to illustrate my point: Say there’s a girl who’s desperately waiting for a break to become a big star. She finds that break too. But after an amazing performance, she lets the fame get to her and she ends up as a druggie, broke, with no work and looked down upon by everyone now. Or worse, simply forgotten.

Had she not given in to fame’s demands, she might have made it even bigger. Then she would’ve credited that one break for changing her life forever. Instead, that one break ruins her life forever (in this hypothetical situation).

What I’m trying to say is this: a seemingly little thing might change your life forever in a good way, but it doesn’t end at that little thing. How you follow up on it is crucial as well. 🙂

    • In this particular case, the young woman was commenting on how an unexpected and unplanned event led to a true and long-term passion in her life. But, certainly, I see your point that it’s what you do with the twists and turns – both the planned and unplanned events in our life – that matters.
