My Real Christmas

I intended to post this on Christmas day, but I forgot I had a quote lined up and it automatically posted before I even rolled out of bed.  This is a video I made for a contest about what your holiday is really like.

Thanks to The Byronic Man and Go Jules Go, who joint hosted the contest! Definitely check out those links to the entrants, because there was a lot of funny stuff submitted.

Here’s what I came up with:

.

I hope your holiday was a joyous and not oo frustrating occasion!

  1. Hmm. Seeing this video for the 10th time, I think I might have made a mistake in crowning it the winner. …Because it should be nominated for an Oscar!!!! (See what I did there?)

This is so spectacular, and by the way, my non-bloggy friends and family brought it up over the holidays – they were raving!

I hope your amazing prize (ha) made it to you – Darla got her B Man sheets on Christmas Eve! Booya! Screw Santa!

    • Thanks Jules!! I finally got out to the Post Office and picked up my PRIZE!! They are fantastic – I even love the box they came in 🙂 Now that I have everything in my hot little hands, I can admit that I was a little jealous of the others who were getting bacon ornaments. Imagine my delight to see that little wrapped item in the box – could it be? Would it be? It was!! You are truly kind and generous 🙂 I’m as excited about him (he’s a he, his name’s Gerald by the way, Gerald Fortunitas) as I was about winning in the first place.

      • Ack I just saw this after I emailed you – YAY!!! I’m so so relieved that everything got to you safe and sound – I had a couple of close calls with things getting to people late this year!

And, FYI, that bacon ornament wouldn’t shut up about coming to live with you, one of the most awesome vloggers the blogosphere has ever known!

        YOU RULE.

      • Oh and I forgot to say – how did you know that was his name?! 😉

  2. omg I’m not the only one that can’t get those price tags off.

  3. So fantastic and deserving of the win. 🙂
I had wondered where you got your music from since every time I use popular music, I get a warning from Youtube and have to take it down. Even a classical piece I used gave me trouble! Sheesh!

    • Thanks Susie! I was really surprised myself and am waiting any minute to get the court summons. Usually my videos with music are rejected too – after they’ve spent hours loading. I’m wondering if this one went through because the music was broken up and most of the songs were incomplete. I’m thinking it didn’t get recognized the same way as it would have if it were just one piece of music. I did get a notice that two of the songs were recognized and that this video will be blocked in Germany. I said, “ok.” Not out loud, but in my head. 🙂

      • That is good to know! The other way I have gotten away with it is by playing music in the background while I video… 🙂

  4. I love it, Michelle! Congrats on winning the contest. Very well deserved! I really love your videos. Hope you had a fantastic Christmas, and here’s to an even more wonderful New Year!

    • Thank you Angela! And I hope you had a wonderful Christmas too! I think every year will get better and better for us. Maybe not all the events of the coming years can live up to that expectation, but we ourselves will keep getting better and better. Here’s to another lovely year of blogging and friendship!

  5. And we have a winner! Congratulations! One bit of advice. Just buy new lights…or get a pre-lit tree.

    December 27, 2012
    • Thank you Patricia! Haha – yes I agree! That fake tree is pre-lit, but I always have to put more and more lights on it. I’m a lights-a-holic. When I had a roommate, we bought new lights every year. “Yeah, I think we need another 200 lights.” Every. Year. Thousands of lights we ended up with, and the place lit up like a Christmas tree. 🙂

  6. I see you’ve added the likes of GoJules and Suzie to your already impressive list of viewers. After a very busy season I’m finally back, and trying to catch up. I even went over to your photo site. Impressive pictures! I particularly liked the snowy road to your house. If only that was ALL we got here. I hope you also have had, and continue to have, a lovely holiday period.

    • Hi Archon! I’m so honored that anyone comes by here at all, but I do have some wonderful, wonderful guests!! And that includes you! I have been neglecting that photo sight for quite some time, but I don’t want to give it up – it’s so pretty over there. I’m glad you got over to take a peek, that makes me happy. And happy holidays to you! I’m getting myself caught up, too and was on your sight leaving a comment at the same time this one came through. Funny how often that kind of thing happens 🙂

  8. I HATE getting the price tags off too!! LOL! But I loved your colourful toe socks! Hope your Christmas was a joyous one and wishing you a fabulous New Year filled with happiness and joy! Sending belated Christmas hugs your way! 🙂

    • Hi Happy!! Belated Christmas hugs right back to you, my friend. I’ve been thinking about you here recently, and thinking I’m going to try cutting out the wheat – I think it is making a big difference in how I feel. And I was looking at those delicious goodies you posted here recently. You are so creative in the kitchen! Those toe socks are not comfortable at all, but I keep them because they’re silly. And see how they came in handy, haha. I hope your holiday was wonderful and happy! Here’s to 2013 – hopefully a joyful and prosperous new year 🙂

  9. Hahaha! I liked the price-tag-scratching sequence and the tape sequence xD

    December 31, 2012
    • Happy New Year Birdie! Those things are real-to-life for sure, haha. That tape dispenser is the worst, very old and slidey. I hope you enjoyed your holidays and I hope you have a great year in 2013!
