Week in Review – Jinxtaposition

Sunday
I had a premonition that the house was going to burn down in the night.

So I put my camera on my laptop (two for one pick up) and my external hard drive in my purse.
Crisis Averted!

Monday
How is it that you can spend $83.23 at the grocery store,
and still there’s nothing good to eat at your house?

Tuesday
I just had Saturday, Sunday and Monday off.

But I chose to write a long post before work today.

Wednesday
Tonight I watched The Mummy.
For the third time this week.

My life is nothing if not boring consistent.

Thursday
I had to wear a jacket for the first time today.

Not the first time ever; the first time this year.
You’re so silly.

Friday
If you’re feeling sick, don’t tell your boss you plan to get the necessities done, and then go home.

Because that’s a day when your work will magically regenerate itself.
Because that’s a day when nothing will go right.
Because that’s a day when someone else will call out sick first.

Saturday
I knew I had to be at work early, and still I opened my email just before bedtime last night.

Not a good idea.
Especially if there’s a post in there about zombies.
It’s not my fault I’m tired today, it’s hers.

Items of Interest:

Must. Make. It. All. In. One. Trip. by Simon (in which getting the groceries inside in one trip is a good thing)

I Love Autumn by Patti Ross (in which jacket weather is a good thing)

You’ve Never Seen a Zombie Movie? by thoughtsappear (in which zombie movies are a good thing)

  1. I don’t think “jinx” is the right word for your week. I think that “normal” describes it. At least, normal in my ditzy world.

    • Haha! Yes, it was a pretty normal week :). I’m thinking to make this a regular little feature – laughter is the best medicine, right?

  2. I love the post. I rather agree with Patricia that the week sounds a bit more typical than not, which does not make it any more frustrating. I especially commiserate with the work explosion on a day you hope to head out early and absolutely nothing good in the house no matter when you last shopped or how much was spent. I love that you helped me laugh at my typical week!

I vote for a new term, “normalinx”!

Thanks for the nod to my autumn link–and I am thrilled to need to be wearing sweaters lately, nights have even been chilly overnight, which is not always the case in Bakersfield.

    • You’re welcome – that was a lovely post. I’ve been enjoying the cooler nights, too and keeping my window open for the cool.

I’ve written a few of these “Why do I do silly things?” posts, so I decided just to have some fun with it. Plus I wanted a way to start sharing some links to posts I’ve enjoyed, so I’m thinking to make this a weekly thing. Maybe (haha, you know how that goes – normalinx!).

  3. This is my life as well. I’ve never tried to jinx my premonitions. I will have to try that next time and maybe I can get some sleep!

    • Oh, it works. Like when you keep the car running so someone can “just run in”. 10 minutes later, you’re still sitting there. Turn the car off! I guarantee, as soon as you finally decide to shut her down, that’s the moment the person will come back out.

  4. What’s with the weather? I had to break out my jacket last week, too. And put away my open toe shoes. =(

    Thanks for the link love!

    • You’re welcome! As soon as I saw it in my email, I just had to read it. Then I had to go read the other one, too!

It’s just now starting to turn colors at my house. All around the house is still green, but the trees in the field out front are getting pretty gorgeous. I like cool weather, but not cold!

  5. I was always to scared to call in sick. I worked a lot with my mom at diff offices and she knew I would be playing hookey. Dang her. We have food at our house but it has to be cooked and sometimes I just can’t be bothered. Then the kids start asking for food and I’m forced to anyways. Hamburger helper. Ha ha

    • That’s my basic deal with the food. I was trying to buy things that are better for me, but by the time I get home, I have no desire to cook. I want the bad-for-me, quick and simple food. I don’t mind Hamburger Helper at all, but even that’s gotten to be too much trouble, haha!

I can’t call out of my 3 day job, because I’m a manager. But my 2 day office job (with the same company) is different. I work on my own and if certain things are done, I can go. The other work backs up, but at least I have the option.
