Movie Quote Christmas Eve – Scrooged

This has never been one of my favorites, but I have it on dvd, so it must be included in the Christmas rotation.  Because I’m like that, you know.  Anyway, I was sort of watching this year, and sort of doing something else, when I heard Bill Murray (as the Scroogiest of Scrooges) say something interesting.  I guess he says it every time, but I’ve never had a blog to quote movies on before now, so this time it caught my attention. continue reading…

Movie Quote Friday – A Christmas Carol

As far as I’m concerned, there is only one A Christmas Carol, and Reginald Owen is the only Scrooge.  But that’s really beside the point.

Anyway, Christmas is a special time of the year.  I love the Christmas season because it’s a happy time, a time to celebrate with friends and family, at church and at home.  I’ll admit that I love to get presents, but I especially love to give them.  And, though the holidays don’t bring out the best in us all, I do believe that this is a time of year when most of us try a little harder to be kind and giving. continue reading…

Movie Quote Thursday – A Christmas Story

This is one of my favorite movies.  Admittedly, I have a lot of favorite movies, but this one is at the top. Ralphie’s youth bears little resemblance to mine, on the surface anyway.  But the themes of Jean Shepherd’s stories ring true for me, of being young, of expectation and disappointment, of just trying to keep out of trouble’s way…of longing for something I can’t get for myself.  I remember what it felt like when I wanted, wanted, wanted a Baby Alive, and how excited I was when I got her.
