Week In Review – Sickness(es)

Saturday
I knew when I went in to work tonight
that it was going to storm.
And that it would be raining all night.
So I guess that’s why I decided
to leave my umbrella in the car.

Sunday
After all the rain yesterday,
Today was bright and beautiful.
The perfect day to get out
and go to work for 8 hours.

Monday
I went to the doctors today, because
I’ve been sick for 4 weeks, going on 5!
It’s sitting in my chest,
and I don’t like it!
😦

Tuesday
I didn’t start my medicine last night,
because it was late and I would rather
take it in the mornings.
And then I forgot it this morning.
And then I forgot it all day long.

Wednesday
So, I bought World War Z last Friday,
and I’ve watched it or listened to it
every night since then.
Right before bed.
I think it’s a zombie sickness.
But not THE zombie sickness.
Right?

Thursday
Yep, that’s definitely a hole in my shoe.
I can tell because of
the sock poking through it.

Friday
So when the medicine bottle says
“take with food”
it really means it.
I didn’t take with food,
and I’ve been sick all day.

Amy Poehler on being in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s

I just ran across a podcast called By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin.

I listened to Jeff’s chat with Amy Poehler, who I really like, and though this was funny and true and sharable:

Amy says:

In your 20’s, you’re all about who you don’t want to be.

In your 30’s, you’re asking yourself who do you want to be.

And in your 40’s, you realize you just are who you are.

I’m a little behind Amy, I think. At 44, I’m just asking those questions about who I want to be.

But then, I’m young for my age, haha!

What about you?

Does Amy’s list ring any bells for you?

At 52 I am not old, no matter what the 30- and 40-somethings  say.  I comfort myself with knowing they’ll get theirs.

The Vacationers have a Query Session

So, if you’ve been here for a while, then you might know that I do this thing I call Queries.

Ok, so they’re questions, but that doesn’t sound as cool as Query. So I ask a bunch of people a random question and then I post the answers. It’s fun to see how people think alike or different and how we can come at the same question from a lot of different angles.

But I’ve only done one this year! What’s wrong with me?

While we were on vacation, I asked my family and friends to do a query session for my podcast and they said yes. They answered a bunch of questions like “What makes a person beautiful?” and “Would you do something wrong or illegal if you knew you wouldn’t get caught?”

If you’d like to hear how that went (it was fun), click here to visit my podcast site!
