the Infinite Monkey speaks: on good news

Our job as Christians is to share the good news, but maybe we need to take a step back now and then and make sure the news we are sharing is really coming across as good news to those who hear it—not because we should tickle people’s ears by telling them what they want to hear, but because God’s good news should be recognizable as good news by everyone, not just a limited few.

I wish I could say that your passing was as picture perfect as in Hollywood movies, where the dying is surrounded by the family and friends and then the last words of wisdom are passed on. But it wasn’t. It was dark and unpolished.

When I was about 12 I finished all the books in the 14+ section (yeah, I was that kid) and had to move on to other bookshops. It was sad.

But I was lucky enough to grow up  there – with those books and those shelves – from a six-year-old holding her daddy’s hand to a weird preteen sniffing the books when no one was looking.  I was lucky enough to experience the joy of book-hunting, of going in with no idea what you want and finding that hidden gem or that old favourite recalled from a foggy memory.
