Hello Again!

I just wanted to take a moment to say hi!  I haven’t been very active around here these last few months, but I’m trying to get back into the bloggy swing of things. I’m feeling better since I wrote this and this, but getting back to normal is always a slow process.  But I really miss you guys.

I want to apologize for my slow responses to comments, too. I’m usually fairly prompt, and frankly, if you take the time to do me the honor of commenting here, then you deserve to be acknowledged. I haven’t let myself completely clam up and hibernate, but that is the major urge during these down swings. I put things off and detach quite a bit. I’ve made strides not to let that happen in the “real” world, but it’s much easier to let it happen with my cyber friends. I can only say that I’m sorry.

Moving forward…

I’m still on with my resolutions this year, with a little better planning. We’ll see how that goes.

And I got a cat a couple of weekends ago. She’s sweet and getting used to me and Louis. She doesn’t have a name, but I keep calling her Kitty. Seems like a lazy name to give a cat, but I’m beginning to think she’s gonna be stuck with it.  Poor Kitty.

It’s snowing at my house tonight, for the first time this winter.  Louis and I went out for a bit, but it was a slushy, super fat, wet flakes kind of snow so we didn’t last long out there.  Here are a few pictures:

The first snow! But it's more like really thick rain than snow.

Who me? No thanks, I'm just fine where I am.

My new kitty...who I've been calling Kitty.

My new kitty, who I’ve been calling…um…Kitty.

  1. Welcome back! Your absence has been noticed, but it’s great to see you writing again. 🙂 I look forward to reading more from you this year and I hope that 2013 brings you some great things. Like a new cat, for example. 😉

    • See, I was thinking how your absence has been noticed 😉

I’ve also struggled to keep up with my reading, and I need to get over to your place and catch up! I missed your Christmas posts this year. I sure hope you’re doing well and having some adventures!

Here’s to 2013! It’ll be great for a lot of us, I think. And 13 is my lucky number 🙂

  2. Missed you, Michelle! I’ve been a little lazy with blogging myself, but I’ve been super busy and a little sick. Plus, I got married! And my son and his girlfriend have been staying with us the past month while he waits for his next job assignment (he left today :-0), and it’s been hard to stay on a regular schedule. I love your new cat, even her name. We used to have a cat that had a real name, but we always called her Black and White Kitty. Imaginative, no?

    • Oh congratulations! I’m so, so happy for you two! I hope you write about it and maybe share some pictures (hint, hint).

I like Black and White Kitty 🙂 Sometimes the names pick themselves, don’t they?

Well I’m excited to get back to it! I just need to make myself move and shake a bit here. Once you get out of the rhythm, it’s tough to get the beat back 🙂

      January 17, 2013
      • It really is hard to get back into a rhythm. part of the problem for me is I haven’t been alone in over a month. there’s always someone around and it’s tough to find the quiet time to write! I will try to post something, with photos, about the wedding.

        • For introverts like us, that can feel overwhelming can’t it? I’m sure you loved having your son and his girlfriend there, though! But a certain amount of quiet is something we need to recharge our batteries 🙂 I am really happy about your new married adventure. I know you guys have been together a while, but it’s still a change and it’s still exciting. I would so love to hear what you’re thinking and feeling about all that. I’ve been missing talking to you – and also I wish Gretchen would come back to Average In Suburbia. I hope she’s doing okay.

          • I’ve missed you, too, and Gretchen. I haven’t read anything by her in a very long time.

  3. Sometimes a break is needed just to stay sane–or in my case less ditzy than usual. No apology needed. Kitty is a cutie!

    January 17, 2013
    • Thank you! I think she’s cute too. Louis is terribly jealous though 🙂

I agree about the break and I was trying to give myself permission to take time off without feeling guilty. I have to remember that this is something I want to do, not something I have to do. I don’t want it to feel like a burden.

      January 17, 2013
      • Yeah, when it starts feeling like a burden it’s time for a break or something new.

Congrats on the new member to the family! Nice to hear you went out in the snow that wasn’t. I sure wish the weather men would get it right. I made a resolution myself for New Years…to exercise more. So far I have had the flu and haven’t done much of that…but we will see how it goes from here! Glad to see you are back blogging! It is nice to know you are out there!

    January 17, 2013
    • Hi Monica! Thank you so much for stopping by to see me 🙂

I fizzled out on most of my resolutions last year, but I still did better than I’d ever done before so I’ll take it! I’m sorry that you’ve been sick though. I hope you feel better soon. And I hope Kaylen is doing well.

I just did the first bit of (tiny) exercise tonight. I mean, it’s only the 17th, right? Anyway, it’s better than last year, haha.

  5. Hello!!
Your cat is beautiful, I had a cat a few years ago almost exactly the same as yours (markings, colour, shade, eyes and all!) called Tibby. I heard of a cat called Dog once. And somebody I knew a long time ago had a cat called Tinkerbell, assumed to be a girl, turned out it was a boy so they called it… ahem… Tinkerballs – went to the vet and it became Tinker. Poor kitty! 🙂 Lol, must happen. Lovely that you’re back!
    God bless,
    Lorna xx

    January 18, 2013
    • I Lorna! It’s lovely to be back. I’m all caught up on your blog now, and I feel good to be up to date there. I just have a few more people to catch up on – I hate to not read, because what if I miss something good?

Poor Tinker…no more tinkering for Tinker, haha. She is a pretty little cat, and she’s getting used to us slowly. It’s sweet to have two little critters that follow me from room to room now. Next I need to get some chickens like your family 🙂 Just kidding!

  6. Love your photos! Welcome back!

    January 18, 2013
    • Thanks! I was just writing this afternoon and it hit me like a ton of bricks: “Oh, I miss this!”

I think I’m all caught up on your blog now too! I love looking at the photos of all your adventures. I would be right there with you…taking photos I mean, not jumping into freezing water 🙂 By the way, your daughter is darling. What a beauty.

      January 18, 2013
      • Awww! Thanks so much! I will look forward to your posts!

        January 18, 2013
  7. Welcome back! I’ve missed you but I figured you just needed some quiet time. Kitty is sooooooo adorable!! And she looks so sweet. More pictures, please! 🙂

    January 19, 2013
    • Happy!! I’m all up to date with your site, and hopefully I won’t be such a blog friend slacker anymore 🙂 She is pretty sweet, getting more and more used to us every day. She doesn’t sit still for the camera much, makes me think of your cat – don’t you have one that doesn’t like to be photographed? But you get great shots anyway!!

      January 19, 2013
      • Yup that would be Moofa! I’m thinking it could be a girl cat thing 🙂 Try using your phone – mine hasn’t figured out it’s a camera yet. Or I wait till she’s in a really good mood. How’s Louis taking to her? I’ve always wanted both a cat and dog.

        January 19, 2013
        • Moofa! And she’s so, so pretty in all of her pictures.

Louis is so very jealous. He watches me closer than ever now, and I feel so bad that Kitty can so easily jump up into my lap or onto the arm of my chair…or anywhere she wants, really. He’s small, but big enough that I have to make room for him to jump up. When she jumps up on me, he looks so mournful that I have to make sure to pay him some special attention. They are hesitant about each other, but when I come home now, she’s not hiding. They are each in their own chairs, separately together. It’s a start 🙂
