Thankful in September 2011
Thursday, 9/1: Back to Animal Kingdom today. I went off alone and had a wonderful day! I missed the others a lot, but it was nice to set my own pace and take my time. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to visit Disney.
Friday, 9/2: Last day! It was a great vacation, but I’m always thankful to go home. We’re leaving at about 5:30 tonight and it will be a long, long drive home.
Saturday, 9/3: We arrived at 6:30 this morning and I’m thankful for the safe trip home! I’m thankful to my parents for taking care of Louis and for letting me take a nap when I came to pick him up. Also, I’m feeling sick, so I’m thankful that I can go in to work and get the payroll done today, so I don’t have to make an extra trip to town tomorrow.
Sunday, 9/4: Thankful to still have a couple of days off after getting home from vacation. Plus, I need it because I’m SICK!
Monday, 9/5: Labor Day holiday. I’m thankful to have off today, because I’m sick. I need to do some mad laundry, but I’m wiped out. Oh, well…I’ll just scrounge tomorrow.
Tuesday, 9/6: Back to work! I’m thankful to have a job. I’m thankful to get back into the swing of things after so much time off. But I feel lousy today.
Wednesday, 9/7: No one to cover for me – I must work! So sick!! Thankful to have a clinic and pharmacy at my job – sinus infection :(. But my prescription is filled, so that’s good. I can barely talk by the end of shift.
Thursday, 9/8: Office day, so I was able to call out sick. Of course, I’ll pay for that when I have double work tomorrow. I slept most of the day. Did I mention that tomorrow will be a killer? But I’m thankful to get this rest, all the same.
Friday, 9/9: Long, hard, long day. Especially for a sick person. But at least I can speak today. Which is a good thing, because I started the day with one shift to fill and ended up with three extra shifts before I was done with my voicemail. But, it all got done in the end. Not the work – no, I couldn’t get all my work done, but at least there are no holes in the schedule. I’m thankful I made it through this day.
Saturday, 9/10: Went by the family dinner after work and people were still there! So thankful for that. I had a wonderful time.
Sunday, 9/11: I worked late today and I found a child who had wandered out to the road. I’m thankful that I worked late and was able to be there to take him home.
Monday, 9/12: Last night, I slept lying down for the first time in a week. It doesn’t sound that exciting, but I can tell you that I’m very thankful not to have to sleep sitting up anymore!
Tuesday, 9/13: Today is my birthday. I’m thankful I made it this far :). Tonight I had dinner at my parent’s house and I’m super thankful for them and for my sister, her husband and the kids. I’m truly blessed with family.
Wednesday, 9/14: Hey, I’m feeling a little better today. I’m still tired as all get-out and I can’t seem to get near enough sleep. But I think I’m over the worst of it. Thankfully.
Thursday, 9/15: Back in the office and so much catching up to do! I’m thankful that I did so much work before vacation, because I only have one shift to fill for next week. That means I can focus on all of the other tasks that I have to do.
Friday, 9/16: I’m all caught up at work, which feels great. There is always a little something that I don’t get done, but it’s the normal amount and not this huge burdensome pile just waiting to fall on my head. I’m thankful to get back to where I want to be at the office (which is ahead of the game and not last-minute fixes and fires).
Saturday, 9/17 through Sunday, 9/25:
I didn’t do my thankfuls on these days, and I was really super disappointed in myself about that. You can read about it here, if you like. But I decided just to leave these blank and to move on from here. I do have to back-fill sometimes, because I don’t always get on the computer every day. I think that’s okay, as long as I make note of it somewhere else. I don’t want to let this slip away from me again. I’m thankful that I wrote about it, because it’s a great and powerful thing to get support when you need it. And I’m thankful for the people who commented and encouraged me to just keep going. And not to take it so hard next time I slip.
Monday, 9/26: I opened at work, which I prefer. Yay! I normally work on days with set tasks, so I was very thankful to have a day when I could do something different and a variety of tasks. I really enjoy setting up a bunch of tasks for the day, for me and my employees, and then just knocking them out one by one. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment when we cross an item off the list.
Tuesday, 9/27: I closed tonight at work and it’s my day to do a task at work that I don’t really enjoy. I’m thankful that, even though I don’t like it, I don’t hate doing it the way I used to. And I’m thankful that I am able to see the benefits of having to do this same task weekly. It gets easier and I get faster at it, and it’s done more accurately.
Wednesday, 9/28: I’m feeling a little better today, mentally and physically, so I’m really thankful for that. It was truck day today, and when I got to work, there was a lot of truck left. But we were able to get all of it done, except the makeup. I’m thankful that we got so much done, and for the feeling of accomplishment that I feel when I am able to leave the place in better shape. It makes me feel good when I am not leaving work behind that will be a burden on my co-workers. I’m thankful that I care enough to have that feeling.
Thursday, 9/29: After work, I went to Becca’s for a family birthday party for Amanda’s fourth, and I had a wonderful time. I took over the photo album from vacation and Becca was pleased with the pictures. I got to see Mom & Dad, who I haven’t seen in a while, and all the kids. Steve’s nephew Dan was there, and I found out that he’s living and working here now, which is exciting. I told Steve that if we keep working at it, we can get his whole family to move here. Steve sang the worst rendition of Happy Birthday ever, at least until the next birthday party. In short, a good time was had by all. I’m thankful for my family. Very much so. After the party, I stopped by work to pick up some other vacation pictures and I took the opportunity to apologize to Lynn about my crappy attitude these last few weeks. I’m thankful that she was laughing it off and had not taken me too seriously, and I’m thankful that I said sorry.
Friday, 9/30: I’m all caught up on my office work, and by next week I’ll be ready to start my November calendar. Being so far ahead really makes the months seem to fly by, though. It’s not yet Halloween, but thinking about November makes me start thinking about Thanksgiving. I have the next three days off, so I’m thankful for that. But I’m also thankful for being ahead at work and not always having to play catch-up. Also, I’m usually the last one to leave the building when I work at the office, but today I wasn’t. The reason I’m thankful for that is because it means I didn’t have to handle the huge rusty gate, a rusty chain and a rusty lock – very unpleasant.
missing your thankfulness that always is a pleasure to read! But so glad you are starting to feel better! Thanks for stopping by Saturday night!
I’m on my way home from my parents and I was just thinking that I need to catch up my Thankfuls. I will do that when I get home if I’m not too tired.
