Thankful in June 2011
Saturday, 6/11: I received a return comment that is very nice. It made me really happy.
Sunday, 6/12: I feel as though I accomplished a lot on my blog this weekend. It may not appear so, but it felt so. Feeling satisfied with your work is a wonderful thing. Additionally, my cousin visited my blog! I was very happy to see him here, plus he commented and subscribed. I’m really excited! Mostly I’m thankful to have this blog as a means of communicating with him, because I rarely get to see him in person, and I think a lot of him.
Monday, 6/13: As my the air conditioning is broken in my car, I’m so very thankful for the cooler weather today. Driving back and forth (the 30 minutes) to work was very pleasant. My sister commented on my blog! I was so happy to see that notification (on my phone). She’s so great. I hope she comments a lot more, because usually has pretty interesting ideas.
Tuesday, 6/14: It’s wonderful to be off today! Even more wonderful is the fact that I’m off again tomorrow.
Wednesday, 6/15: I went to check out Curves today and I think I’m going to join. I’m thankful? We’ll see. I’m definitely glad to be ahead of the game with my blog – one post today, next two lined up, and Saturday’s Query page almost done!
Thursday, 6/16: It’s nice to have people in my life who I can vent to. Or, as I told one such person tonight, I’m thankful to have friends who let you be a whack job when you need to be, but they don’t hold it against you.
Friday, 6/17: I stopped in to work to get a few more answers for Saturday’s Query. When we were done, I said, “Thanks for answering my question.” The two ladies said, “I love answering your questions!” In unison. Joy! D said, “Your questions make me think.” I’m thankful to be surrounded by people who don’t think I’m crazy, or even strange. I’m thankful they like the questions. I’m thankful they let me post their answers. I’m thankful that something I started is creating interactions that carry on beyond the initial “interview”. It’s so neat to hear, hours later, “I was thinking about the question Michelle asked us earlier, and…” Or when someone tells me they couldn’t sleep last night for thinking about “that darned question”. I don’t want people to lose sleep, but it’s fantastic to get people thinking. I’m thankful to have an impact on another person’s life, however small and insignificant that impact seems to be. I mean, really…it’s just a few questions. But it was never so much about the questions or the answers; it was about the discussion. I’m thankful to have a part in starting the discussion.
Saturday, 6/18: As soon as I got upstairs, the cashier started calling for me. Three times I climbed those steps and three times I had to come back down. “Manager to the register” Oh how I cringed each time I heard the tell-tale click from the intercom; don’t let it be for me. It’s not that I don’t want to help, it’s just that my body was complaining. By the fourth and last time, I was laughing and apologizing for walking so slow (slow for me, I usually clip it at the store). “My body is done today,” I told her. As I was starting my next task, the thought came to me that I am surely lucky to have a body that still works. “What are you complaining about?” I’m thankful to still have generally good health, all my arms and legs, all my digits, most of my brain. Okay, all of my brain, most of my cognitive capabilities. Those are things to be truly thankful for.
Sunday, 6/19: I had a pleasant night at work.
Monday, 6/20: My co-worker came in an hour early for me and I stayed an hour late for her. We were both thankful.
Tuesday, 6/21: What a great day! I got out an explored my hometown, some new places, some old places.
Wednesday, 6/22: Another great day! I stopped by a pharmacy and lunch counter that’s been in my hometown forever. I’d never been there before, but was always curious. Turns out they’re pretty nice people – they even answered some Query questions for me. I took a few pictures (see one of the counter stools in tomorrow’s post) and I’m planning on doing a short post just for them. Also, I’m thinking on doing a new category feature called Hometown Tourist. It’s so much fun having a blog!
Thursday, 6/23: It was nice to stay at my sister’s house for a few days, just being in a different place is refreshing. But tonight I’m also thankful to be home. After all, there really is no place like home.
Friday, 6/24: Short day at work! Then a few days off! So excited!
Saturday, 6/25: I have 4 days off in a row, and I’m so thankful to be getting a little break!
Sunday, 6/26: I finally got the new Query posted – whew! It took me forever. Doing some clean-up work on the blog today and tomorrow and I’m glad to be finishing up some old work.
Monday, 6/27: A nice long day. Lots of laundry done. Lots of cleaning done. Dishes done. Next two posts written and scheduled, next Query written and scheduled. Life is good. It feels so great to be ahead! And I have a date with my sister and the girls to take a walk downtown on Wednesday. It will be fun to share that time with them, I’m so looking forward to it!
Tuesday, 6/28: Not much going on today, really. I finished up another post, so I’m getting next week set up. I am really thankful to be ahead, because it’s no fun feeling under pressure. Of course, there are no rules in blogging, so the pressure comes only from myself. Still…
Wednesday, 6/29: I had a great day with my sister and the girls. We walked and talked and had lunch with Logan. I took a bunch of pictures of Amanda in the pool, fun! And then Amanda and I had a little ice cream. I gobbled mine down, but she took hers lick by lick by lick. Which of course means that quite a bit of it was melted all over her and the ground and all the little napkins we used up. I was so glad to have that time with my family. (Even if there had been no ice cream 🙂 .)
Thursday, 6/30: Stressful day at work. I was just thankful to go home.
Looking good! Keep at it! 🙂
Thanks, I’m trying! I was just thinking this morning that I really need to start the day with that attitude, not let it become an afterthought, “Okay, what was I thankful for today?”
Awesome!
Keep up the great attitude =D
Thanks! I’m trying!
