Thankful in December 2011
Thursday, 12/1: We had a meeting after work tonight, which I did not want to go to. At. All. But it turned out to be a good meeting. I’m thankful that my time wasn’t wasted. And I’m thankful that it put me into overtime.
Friday, 12/2: It’s Friday, Friday. 🙂 But I have to work this weekend, so it’s not that big of a deal. Still, I got my work done, January’s schedules are set up and 2012’s vacations are starting to be mapped out. So, not a bad day. I’m thankful to be ahead!
Saturday, 12/3: It’s Saturday, Saturday… I got my times mixed up and went to work 30 minutes late. I’m thankful that it didn’t create a big mess or cause a co-worker to have to stay late for me. Also, I haven’t worked a Saturday night in a while, so it was nice to do signs again. It gets so tedious to do the same jobs over and over. And over and over and over. But it’s nice to go back to them once you’ve had a little break.
Sunday, 12/4: I slept later than I intended to today, but I got to work on time. So, not a bad day overall. Just a kind of regular day. I’m thankful for regular days, really, and not too much drama in my life.
Monday, 12/5: It was another great financial planning video tonight with my aunt and uncle. This one was all about setting a realistic (and oh-so-comprehensive) budget. Now the hard part: the homework. I’m thankful to be on this journey to better financial health!
Tuesday, 12/6: Argh! It was certainly a long day at work. I’m thankful to be home and within 20 minutes of laying on the couch with Louis and a movie.

It has been very typical for me to write my Thankfuls a few at a time, but there was only one other time when I went more than a week without writing them down. It really discouraged me at that time, and I didn’t handle it very well. As you can see, I have dropped the ball again. The difference in how I feel about it is pretty interesting to me, but you can read about that here.
I’m not giving up on the Thankfuls, but it has become more and more difficult for me to keep up with a daily list. I don’t want to just be going through the motions of writing something to have something written. I’m doing this for a specific reason, to reach a desired outcome; it’s not just an empty exercise.
So, I’m going to keep Practicing Thankful, but starting in January, I’m only going to document it weekly. We’ll see how that works out…
