Let me give you a simple rule to follow when faced with an opportunity to “act ugly”:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

the Infinite Monkey speaks: on decisions

I hope if anything this has inspired you to pay attention to your decision making process, and realize that with every decision you make you are sculpting your future. The question is “Is the future you’re sculpting on a daily basis the future you truly want?”

Hope Springs Eternal

Does it?

I think for most of us it does.  Hope must be a bottomless well, an emotion that bubbles up from inside us, from a limitless source, from a natural spring.

It must be.  Because if you run out of hope, then you have no reason to go on.  Hope is our link between what is and what could be.

There were times in my youth when I definitely did not want to be in my life.  I would have been extremely happy if I could have crawled into a crevice somewhere, curled into a ball and simply gone to sleep.  But however welcome the sleep would have been, I wanted to eventually wake up.  I wanted a break, not an end.  I never contemplated an end because something really great could happen the next day and I wouldn’t be here to enjoy it.  I believe that is hope.  I didn’t create it within myself, it was just there.  It gave me what I needed to hold on until the next day, or the next, or the one after that.

Liar, Liar, pants on fire

This week’s Query is about telling lies.  And no, I wasn’t asking for pointers!  In fact, I already know how to lie all too well, but asking others about their lying habits really made me pay attention to mine.

I find that I don’t lie as a general habit – a good thing to realize about myself.  The bad thing?  I’ve recently started telling “sugar-coating” lies.  Just a bit of a fib to make the bad news sound better.

Lying gets easier each time you do it, like a lot of bad habits.  I’m glad I asked this question, because I don’t want to get into any kind of lying habit, even if it’s only told to make the medicine go down easier.  So, I caught myself doing this and I stopped.  I find that I don’t really have to sugar coat (lie about) the bad news after all, and I feel better for having been honest.
