the Infinite Monkey speaks: on the Jesus standard
Random brilliance from across the internet…
.
Loving people is sometimes hard work. Because they don’t always look like us, they don’t always act like we want them to act…they aren’t always nice to us. Sometimes the people that we are called to love are actually our enemies. That’s what Jesus has called us to do as his people. So loving people is hard, but we know that that’s the standard. That’s the foundation for everything that we do as followers of Jesus.

For me, one of the most amazing things about this truth of loving our enemies is that Jesus & God aren’t asking us to do anything they aren’t willing to do themselves. God loves His enemies. And I’m grateful, for I’m sure that at one time in my life, I was an enemy. Maybe that’s why I now love God – His love for me (when I was an enemy), slowly melted my hard heart, to where now I love Him. Wow, I never thought of that – thank you for triggering that thought.
That’s so awesome! This really spoke to me too – it’s so easy to love those who love me or are nice to me. I’m praying for God to help me be a more compassionate and loving person – kind and caring all the time. That does not describe who I am on my own!
Too often I am not loving. I get cranky and become unlovely and unloving. Or I should say even more unloving. Thankfully you know Who is patient with this wayfarer.
BTW I have been missing you. Am I not getting the word that you have a post up? Gotta talk to WP if that’s the case.
Me too! I’m trying to be mindful of my crankiness and negative actions throughout the day and turn my attitude around as soon as I notice it. Unfortunately I don’t always pay attention fast enough.
I’ve been off the grid for a few months and not posting – or reading other blogs much. I think I just needed some down time, but I’m really missing people! I’m trying now to get back my mojo, haha.
I know what you mean about the down time. It has been so difficult lately for me to keep up with writing and reading. Good to have you back, my friend.
