I know you want to hear about how I’ve put mothballs under the hood of my car, or how I was painting yesterday and had a crazy moment where I thought the walls were mad at me. But I’m not going to tell you either of those things. Instead, I’m going to recap how the New Year’s Resolutions are going.
I know you’re excited, but please save all applause until the end. continue reading…
On June 13th, 2011, I introduced the Thankful pages with this metaphor:
“We are so small and seemingly insignificant in the universal pool of life, but every move we make creates a ripple that grows ever wider, reaching out to and crossing paths with our fellow swimmers. We can float along if we wish. But to keep moving is to continually create these waves of energy, to continually send something out into the world. To swim is to move one’s limbs in a purposeful way. It is also to propel oneself, to move from one location to another, to take yourself to new places. It is to take yourself further.”
And so I had decided that I was ready to stop treading water; I was ready to swim. To be more accurate, I was planning to do a great big cannon ball into the deep end and send plenty of awesome waves out into the world. Then I’d swim with a mighty purpose; I’d propel myself across that pool and intercept some of those same waves that I had sent out.
I would be Thankful! continue reading…
Believe it or not, I’m doing okay with my New Years resolutions. Except for that budget thing; that’s not going so well. But the month’s not over, so there is hope for it, yet. Actually, this post pertains to resolutions in more ways than one. It is at once talking about resolutions and fulfilling a resolution.
You may or may not remember, but I resolved to get back on track with my Queries. That poor little Hope picture has been hanging out on my sidebar since August 28th. Four months! Wow, I didn’t even realize it had been that long. And I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed doing the Queries until I started
hounding asking people to answer a new question. Did you miss the Queries? I hope so, because they’re back. I resolved to make it so.
So, in honor of resolutions made and broken all over the world (ambitious, aren’t I?), here’s the new Query: Do You Make New Years Resolutions?
New Year’s Day!
You know what that means…
yes! Time and a half!
And we went to see the lights at the Botanical Garden,
so that was great, too. continue reading…
